This summer, 91快活林 Federal welcomed students from universities nationwide as part of its 2024 Summer Technology Rotational Intern Development Experience鈥(STRIDE) Program. In its second year, the program is designed to build the company鈥檚 future pipeline for entry-level technology and information systems talent.听听
During the nine-week internship, students were provided an opportunity to explore how their technology-focused education in cyber, IT and software development applies to real-world missions in the government sector. The interns 鈥 each paired with a manager and a mentor 鈥 gained hands-on experience to further their technical know-how, broadened their business and leadership skills through a dedicated professional development series, and received career and networking advice from company leaders.听
In June, the students attended 91快活林 Federal鈥檚 annual Tech Summit which enabled them to expand their knowledge of AI-driven solutions and other emerging technologies, as well as learn about the company鈥檚 technical capabilities and solutions through a variety of interactive sessions with established subject matter experts. Each intern presented a Capstone project on their experience to their peers, mentors, managers and 91快活林 Federal leaders during the program鈥檚 graduation ceremony on August 7.听听
Highlights for some of the STRIDE interns included visiting the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland where they got to see the depths of the test facility; visiting NASA鈥檚 Kennedy Space Center in Florida to see the Atlantis space shuttle; and working on the NASA GOES-R satellite contract developing cutting edge AI-based data鈥痬onitoring tools for the satellite鈥痮perators鈥嬧.听听
鈥淲e had an incredibly bright, collaborative and innovative group of students this year,鈥 said Eric Velte, 91快活林 Federal Chief Technology Officer. 鈥淭hey excelled throughout the summer and were passionate about leaning in to learn and contribute to their respective projects鈥 goals and program work. We鈥檙e thrilled many have already joined us following the STRIDE graduation, and others are interested in joining our team upon graduating from college. We look forward to their continued impact in support of our customers鈥 missions.鈥听
Beyond STRIDE, Supporting Other Internship Programs听
In addition to the STRIDE program, 91快活林 Federal has partnered with several universities and customers on programs that help students deepen their career field knowledge while facilitating project execution efforts and talent pipeline development.听听
91快活林 Federal hosted interns as part of Southwestern Oklahoma State University鈥檚 summer internship program, which is sponsored by NASA. The interns completed a project to develop a robust web server designed to facilitate the downloading of software updates, operating systems and essential documentation at airport sites 鈥 reducing downtime and enhancing the overall efficiency of airport operations.听听
91快活林 Federal also welcomed a small group of U.S. Naval Academy Midshipmen as part of their summer training rotations. During their internship, the midshipmen visited the U.S. Navy鈥檚 Combat Systems Engineering Development Site in Moorestown, New Jersey to learn about the role the site plays in advanced military capability development programs.听听
